Tomczak arrested after fight with wife in Bell Acres home

Former Steelers quarterback Mike Tomczak was arrested yesterday after a domestic dispute with his wife at their home in Bell Acres.

Tomczak, 47, was arraigned before District Judge Robert L. Ford on two counts of simple assault and released on his own recognizance to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 4.

Dawn Tomczak suffered a minor scrape and bruises to her foot but did not require hospital treatment, said Bell Acres police Chief Brian Brown.

Brown said his department has been called to the couple's home on Witherow Road for domestic problems before, but that this is the first time that charges have been warranted.

According to the criminal complaint, Dawn Tomczak called Brown at 12:52 p.m. to say her husband had returned home and was yelling at her and had lunged at her and stepped on her foot.
